MEET OUR EXPERT COACHES
Head Coach/ Programmer
Michael has been involved in CrossFit since 2011. He discovered his love for it during his final year of college at the University of Louisville, where he obtained his degree in Exercise Science. He was drawn to CrossFit by the intensity and difficulty of it, and the constant pursuit of mastery in so many facets of sport and fitness. It’s ability to change people’s lives, however, has kept him involved all these years.
Michael has spent the past seven years honing his skills as a CrossFit trainer, and is ready to bring his knowledge and experience to the community. He will be making our tribe stronger and more fit through his own programming for Butchertown CrossFit.
Bill is a CrossFit Level 1 Trainer. He is a 7-time Collegiate National Champion with the University of Louisville and Morehead State University cheerleading programs. Bill has also won three All-Star World Championships as an athlete and coach, and was a member of the gold-medal winning Team USA Co-Ed team in 2009. Since his cheerleading days, Bill has found that competitive drive and personal motivation in CrossFit, and loves finding new physical limits. In the 6 years that he has been involved in CrossFit, he has learned a great deal about who he is. He brings a vast array of coaching abilities and prior athletic experiences to the Butchertown CrossFit team.
Katie has been involved with CrossFit since 2008. Growing up, Katie was a competitive gymnast. After retiring from gymnastics, she instantly found and fell in love with the sport of competitive cheerleading. This passion led her to cheer in college with the National Champion University of Louisvile co-ed squad. During and after college, Katie coached many competitive gymnastics teams and cheerleading squads. During the day, Katie works as a math coach at Portland Elementary School. Katie has completed the CrossFit L1 Trainers course as well as the CrossFit Gymnastics specialty course. She is eager to bring her love of teaching and learning to the Butchertown CrossFit team!
After being introduced to CrossFit in 2012, Ryan was immediately hooked on the sport. Having played Division II basketball at Bellarmine University, she was immediately drawn to the intensity, competition and dedication CrossFit offered. Ryan is a Level 1 CF Trainer and has also completed the CrossFit Gymnastics specialty course.
Sean has been doing CrossFit since 2009 and has been coaching CrossFit since 2011. Sean is a veteran of the United States Coast Guard and is currently employed by Louisville Fire and Rescue as a firefighter and EMT, and is assigned to the dive rescue team. Sean uses CrossFit as a means to stay fit and in shape for his job. He has his USA Weightlifting Level 1 coaches certificate and has been the assistant weightlifting coach at Trinity High School the past two years.
Becky was first introduced to CrossFit in 2007, and has made it a serious part of her life since 2012. She is a graduate of Murray State University, where she competed in collegiate mountain biking. She has recently begun her career as a firefighter with the Clarksville Fire Department. She has always had a passion for sports and fitness and found that CrossFit fed that competitive drive and always challenged her abilities. She has competed in several CrossFit competitions, including CrossFit Regionals and the Granite Games. Becky has a CF-L1 Trainers certificate and can’t wait to inspire those joining the Butchertown CrossFit family to push themselves beyond what they thought was possible!
Missy was introduced to CrossFit in 2010. She was never into fitness and only played sports with her brother. Someone first asked her if she wanted to work out in a garage with no AC, and she said no. But she tried it out anyway. Filthy 50 was her first WOD and she was hooked. Missy received her CrossFit Level 1 certificate in 2017 and started coaching immediately after.

Eric began his coaching career in 1995 as an assistant strength and conditioning coach at the University of Kentucky. During his three year tenure there, he worked with every Division 1 sport except for men’s and women’s basketball. He was fortunate enough to work with National Champions in Track & Field, Olympians in Baseball and Track & Field, as well as professionals in the NFL and NBA. He then moved on to Morehead State University where was the Strength and Conditioning Coach for Men’s Basketball and Women’s Volleyball. Eric holds an undergraduate degree in Exercise Physiology and an MBA from Bellarmine University. He has held certifications from the American College of Sports Medicine as a Health/Fitness Instructor, National Strength and Conditioning Association Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, and a CrossFit Level 1 certificate. Although Eric does make a living outside the fitness industry, he has never stopped coaching on a part-time basis. Eric runs a strength and conditioning program now, focusing on teaching athletes proper technique, building solid foundations and stretching their mental capacity for training. “I believe whole-heartedly that training imitates life and what we do in the gym makes us better people in every way.”
Jackie Mitchell first became a Certified Personal Trainer in 2013 and started doing Crossfit spring 2015. She has a Bachelors in counseling but found her passion for Fitness and coaching after college.
